Lorne Michaels, the legendary creator of Saturday Night Live, once said:
“The show doesn’t go on because it’s ready. It goes on because it’s 11:30.”

Let that hit.

It doesn’t go on because it’s perfect.
It doesn’t go on because everyone agrees.
It doesn’t go on because every box is checked and every fear has been smoothed over.

It goes on…because it’s time.

If you’ve been sitting on a dream, an idea, a gift, a purpose – waiting for it to feel perfect, polished, and universally applauded before you begin – you’re going to be sitting there for the rest of your life.

And I say that with love, not judgment. Because I’ve been there too. Hell, I find myself there every time I put off writing one of these or making a video (which still gives me incredible anxiety).

Here’s the truth: “I’m not ready” is rarely about preparation. It’s about fear.
Fear of failure.
Fear of judgment.
Fear that you’ll be exposed as a fraud, a hypocrite, an amateur, or God forbid…a beginner.

But guess what?

Every pro was once a rookie.
Every expert was once unsure.
Every lighthouse stood in the dark, unlit, before it became a beacon.

“Jump and grow your wings on the way down.” -Les Brown

There’s no manual. No certificate. No cosmic green light.
There’s just now.

If you need sign, this is it.
If you’re waiting for permission, this is it.
If you’re holding back because you think “someone else could say it better,” say it anyway.

Because it’s not about being the best. It’s about being available.

There’s someone out there – maybe right now – who’s silently begging for the very thing you’re scare to share. A song. A story. A business. A perspective. A message.

I was scrolling TikTok the other day and came across a message that has stuck with me. The pastor in the video said:

“The fruit of a plant isn’t consumed by the plant. It’s consumed by those who pass by.”

Your gift? Your talent? Your voice?
It’s not for you. It’s for them.

So what are you really withholding when you let fear sit in the driver’s seat?

You don’t need to be the most polished. You just need to be present. To show up, speak up, and give what you have – even if it’s still growing.

Because people aren’t waiting on your perfection. They’re waiting on your permission – to feel seen, to feel heard, to feel less alone.

If someone walked up to you today and asked for help, you’d show up in a heartbeat. What I’m asking…is that you do the thing for the ones who don’t know how to ask.

Be the lighthouse.
But you have to flip the switch.
You have to plant the seed.
You have to start the show – not because you’re ready, but because it’s time.

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”

So… now.
